In the heart of the enchanting rolling fields, lived a shepherd boy. His life was essentially unadulterated, simple yet virtuous. His primary duty was essentially to look after his flock of ewes.

Their gentle baas and the whispering of the wind across the solo tree on the mountaintop were his main co-dwellers. Day after day, guarding his charges inculcated in him a notion of tranquil contentment.

Yet, there were at times moments of solitude, when the shepherd boy would pine for companionship. During one such occasion from sheer monotony, the shepherd boy devised a naughty plot.

Stories of predators hunting on website sheep had been heard times and again in the village. So, the boy decided to exploit this fear and played a prank on the townsfolk.

One day he dashed into the village yelling “Wolf! There is a wolf that has taken my sheep!” The frightened villagers sprinted up the hills for rescue but saw nothing threatening.

The boy chuckled at the dilemma on their faces. This game persisted for a few more days. However, one noon, a real wolf did attack the flock. The shepherd boy dashed for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one responded.

Frustrated and alone, the boy struggled against the wolf but managed to rescue only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the village only to be met with a reprimand on honesty and the consequences of false alarms.

The story of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the significance of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the perils of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once lost, is tough to earn back. It's a story as relevant today as it was anciently.
